i have a Audiovox portable DvD player i want to connect my Xbox 360 to (for a long trip) i have audio no visul?

first off i know i spelled Visual wrong i had to too be able to fit it in the box second im going on a long trip and i want to play my xbox 360 on my Audiovox portable dvd player i dont have the instructions (i bought it a while back and lost them in that time) it has the A/V jacks on the side but when i plug them in i get the audio but instead of show my xbox dashboard it just says DVD PLAYER no disk (i have no disk in because when its in it just plays the dvd and cuts off the xbox sound) ive tried to find an input switch on it but there is nothing on it but on,off,stand-by,menu, volume, brightness, widescreen, or letterbox switches on it and to clear up all future questions YES THE YELLOW CORD IS IN THE YELLOW JACK THE RED IN THE RED AND THE WHITE IN THE WHITE i have though of this many times before and asking on yahoo is my last chace im leaving this sunday (october 26th) so please help before then

    On the connector that plugs into the xbox, there is a little switch for deciding between HD and regular resolution. At the other end, the one which you plug into your TV, there should be six different connectors. One set of Red, White, and Yellow, and then another set of Red, Blue, and Green.

    The first set is for the standard resolution; only the yellow sends the signal for video. Both the Red and White on this set are solely for the audio.

    The second set, the Red, Blue, and Green, is used entirely for video. This allows the video to be displayed in High Definition; there is so much information, it can’t be carried on one cable. None of these actually carries audio, only video.

    The point is, you must make sure that the setting on the xbox plug, between HD and regular, is set complimentary to the cables you have plugged in. Just set it to regular, and you should be gaming worry-free.
