Sould you give refunds on used items at a yard sale?
Posted by: dvd-guru / Category: Sony Portable DVD Playerluis84gonzo asked:
I sold a used Sony portable DVD player for 10 dollars. It was used for road trips, and then I got a new car with the DVD package. The portable DVD player was 1 and half year old and I lost the battery charger. I got it on sale for 50 dollars at best buy. The customer showed up at my home in the evening demanding a refund, since I did want to deal with him I gave him his 10 dollars back. Did I do the right thing???

for keeping the peace you did okay but if it were my garage sale i would not have given the money back… remember this person, so the next time they come to your sale make them sign a no money back notice

did you get the dvd player back ?
if not i think the guy broke it and just said that to get his money back
it was nice of you to give him 10.00 dollars back
no you didn,t have to give him any thing what did he expect it was a yard sale
next time you have a yard sale tell the no refunds sold as is
most of the time they ask if some thing like that works be for they buy it any way make sure be for you sale any thing it works

Probably
Generally there’s no warranty and no refunds for garage sale purchases; unless you said it worked and it didn’t; Generally everything is AS IS
You avoided problems and shouting and inconvenience and further waste of your time. . . .not obligated to give any refund

That customer’s demands were way out of line, to demand a refund for something bought at a yard sale. But I’d have done the same thing you did, give him his $10 back just to get rid of him.
